Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt will not be coming to Imperial County Tuesday to deliver a record of decision against authorizing the development of a gold mine in the Indian Pass area.
Earlier reports from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management indicated Babbitt would visit the Imperial Valley. Information on why he will not was unavailable.
Babbitt is scheduled to be in San Diego at 10 a.m. Tuesday for the signing of a record of decision authorizing 15 years of interim surplus operating criteria for the Colorado River.
The ceremony will be at the Coronado Island Marriott Resort, 2000 Second St., Coronado.
