Voice: The real reason to say no to Ashcroft and Chavez

January 16, 2001

We can all celebrate with the prospect of Linda Chavez being part of G.W. Bush's cabinet behind us. The Democrats in Washington in all their wisdom opposed her primarily for being Hispanic. The allowance of Hispanic-Americans to positions of high power could potentially cast light upon their lies.

The Democrats need to continue the conveyance of other lies that Republicans are racist and hateful. The Democrats need to do all they can to convince Hispanics that they are the Hispanic party, even if it means they must reject Hispanics simply on the basis of their ethnicity.

Put simply, the Democrats must resort to racism if they are to continue with their charges of racism.

The argument that Chavez harbored an illegal alien and therefore cannot serve as secretary of labor is hardly cogent when lying under oath and obstruction of justice (must more serious charges than the charge of caring for and helping people) are not considered punishable offenses. But alas, to the Democratic Party, the only good Mexican is one who votes Democratic.

So with Chavez defeated we must turn our attention to Ashcroft. The simplest way to describe our opposition to Ashcroft is that it is not acceptable to act according to the beliefs to which we profess. It is proper for one to incessantly invoke the name of the Lord and describe one's Orthodox Judaism on the campaign trail, assuming one doesn't act in accordance to the beliefs of Orthodox Judaism, and it is very respectable to call yourself the Reverend So and So but never preach the gospel or live according to its principles. It is not, however a good thing when a man asserts to be a Christian and actually lives as a Christian.

Let's support the Democratic Party as they continue to assert our inferiority and reliance on them and remain united in our opposition to good people regardless of class, color or creed.
