Dora D. Renison

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in Calexico for Dora D. Renison, 80, of Calexico, who died Jan. 18 in a Yuma nursing home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Calexico. The Rev. Barry Vinyard of Imperial Valley Catholic Chaplaincy will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View in Calexico.

Mrs. Renison was born Sept. 5, 1920, in Calexico. She married Barney Ray Renison in 1939 in Calexico. She owned and operated Renison Ice and Renison Moving and Storage from the 1950s through 1990. She was a founding board member of the Imperial Valley Methadone Clinic and was active with the Vista Sands program through the Imperial County Department of Mental Health in the 1990s before her illness.

Mrs. Renison was active in the Calexico Soroptimist Club and the Calexico Beautification Commission during the 1970s. She also served as board member at University of San Diego during the '70s.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Ray Renison, on Nov. 18, 1980.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Ana Rosa Renison of Calexico; daughter and son-in-law, Dora-Lea and John Abriel of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Hector and Alicia de la Vega of Calexico; grandchildren, John R. Renison Jr. of San Diego, Juan Manuel Renison of Calexico and Brandon J. Abriel of Houston; nieces, Celia and Norma de la Vega, both of Calexico; and nephew, Hector de la Vega Jr. of Calexico.


Memorial services were Monday in the Niland Chamber of Commerce building for Marilyn Mae Buell, 67, of Niland, who died Wednesday in her home. Pastor Ray McKinley officiated.

Burial was private.

Ms. Buell was born Nov. 4, 1933, in Joliet, Ill. She was the daughter of Tody L. Buell and Edna Irene Vickery.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Stephanie.

Survivors include her sons, Frank Cary of Minooka, Ill., and John Collins of Niland; daughters, Debra McCarthy of Phoenix and Cathy Stam of Athol, Idaho; sister, Dora Vause of Hopkinsville, Ky.; long-time companion, Cecil Binder; grandchildren, Michele, Brandie, John Wayne, Josh, Jerica, John and Clayton; and great-grandchildren, Brianna and Alyssa.
