Police arrested an El Centro man in connection with the robbery of a woman Sunday evening in the parking lot of the Costco in El Centro.

A suspect took a purse from a 66-year-old Imperial woman in the Costco parking lot about 6:30 p.m., said El Centro police Lt. Paul Longoria. It doesn't appear the woman was injured, Longoria said.

The suspect, later identified by witnesses as Jason Douglas Tuttle, 19, was last seen running west in a dirt lot behind Costco, Longoria said.

El Centro police Officer Victor Nuñez arrested the suspect at his home in the area about 9:30 p.m. after officers spoke with witnesses, Longoria said. The purse has not been recovered.

Tuttle was arrested on suspicion of robbery and is in the county jail this morning.

Longoria said a victim of a theft should be a good witness and remember what the suspect looks like and in what direction they flee.

"And call police as soon as possible," Longoria said.
