With the regular waterfowl season history, Saturday and Sunday are the date set for a special junior waterfowl hunt.
According to state Fish and Game Warden Carol Sassie, regular limits apply for both ducks and geese and junior hunters must be accompanied by a responsible person over age 18.
Rain is predicted for the weekend as another Pacific storm works its way down the coast.
"The weather may be ideal for the junior hunt. I would expect new flights of ducks and geese to be pushed ahead of the storm and be on hand for the weekend," said Sassie.
Not only does the special hunt allow junior hunters an excellent chance of bagging waterfowl without the pressure from regular hunters, but the DFG hopes to get more young hunters involved in hunting and enjoying the outdoors.
