Recall election first under new deadline

January 30, 2001

The last day for voters to register to vote for the Feb. 27 San Pascual Unified School District's special recall election is Feb. 13.

This is the first election in Imperial County under a new law that changed the cut-off period for voter registration from 29 days to 15 days before an election.

Voters of the school district will be voting on whether La Rue Deppe Nelson shall be recalled as a trustee of the San Pascual School District and for the purpose of electing a member to succeed Deppe Nelson, if she were to be recalled. One candidate, Peter N. de Corse, has filed for the seat.

The last day for a write-in candidate to file is at 5 p.m. Feb. 13 in the Elections Department. The first day that absentee ballots can be mailed out for the election is today.
