Voice: Beloved Bob DeVoy won't be forgotten

January 31, 2001

Every so often our higher being sends to Earth a person whose primary purpose is bringing joy to all. I've been most fortunate to have met two of these phenomenon that I can call dear friends. I met Keith while going to school in Los Angeles. He's the type that could be in a group of new acquaintances anywhere and have all in a joyous mood within minutes; just one of those personalities that invites friendliness and brings happiness to all.

The other is Bob DeVoy; Oklahoma's favorite son but claimed by the Imperial Valley for the past 35-plus years. Bob loved everybody and the feeling was reciprocal. He called all his acquaintances friends and we all feel blessed that he was our friend. The love that his Saint Sally and seven children have for each other is most evident. Bob was not one to hold back his love of family or friends.

Will he be remembered? I'm never going to let him leave! I'm sure the DeVoy family realizes how fortunate they have been to have had him for as long as they did. I know this knowledge will sustain Saint Sally and the seven wild Indians throughout the days to come and the rest of their lives.
