Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary for Rafael Diaz Robles, 88, of Brawley, who died Friday in his home. Rosary will be said at 11 a.m.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley with the Rev. Jorge Moreno of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church officiating.

Mr. Robles was born June 23, 1912, in Magdalena, Sonora, Mexico. He married Otilia Yanez on Dec. 23, 1960, in Mexicali.

Mr. Robles was raised in Magdalena. He moved to Phoenix and in the 1940s came to the Imperial Valley. He settled in Brawley and worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture at its station there for 25 years before retiring in 1978.


Survivors include his wife, Otilia Molina of Brawley; daughters and sons-in-law, Carmen and Esteban Castro of Fontana, Maria Luisa and Eduardo Martinez of Nogales, Ariz., and Teresa and Gabriel Marquez of Brawley; son, Ralph Robles of Brawley; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.


Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Blythe for Lanney Allen, 65, of Blythe, who died Wednesday in Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Zion Lutheran Church, 721 E. Chanslorway in Blythe. Pastor Jerry Hoemann of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Palo Verde Cemetery in Blythe.

Mr. Allen was born Dec. 19, 1935, in Blythe, where he was a lifelong resident.

He was a courier for Jordan Implement Co. in Brawley and worked locally with many agricultural-related businesses.

He was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church and at the time of his death was vice president of the Aid Association for Lutherans.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Arreola, in 1995 and his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Geri of Blythe; daughter and son-in-law, Gina and Nathan Lawrence of Blythe; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Becky Tippit of Las Vegas; son, Russell Tippit of San Diego; son, Ronnie Allen of Blythe; son, Brian Tippit; son-in-law, Cesar Arreola of Cathedral City; and seven grandchildren.
