BRAWLEY — Two men from this city were injured Sunday when the vehicle in which they were traveling rolled on a road southeast of here.
Felix Sanchez, 27, was driving a sports car north on Highway 111 approaching Mead Road when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel as he entered the curve at Mead shortly before 6 a.m., according to a California Highway Patrol press release.
As the car ran off the west shoulder, Sanchez awoke and overcorrected as he attempted to reenter the roadway. When the car reentered the roadway it began to roll.
Sanchez, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley with minor injuries.
His passenger, Luis Aguilar, 28, was transported to Pioneers with major injuries, including a fracture to the lumbar area of his spine. It was not known by investigators this morning whether Aguilar was wearing a seat belt.
