February 06, 2001

CALEXICO — U.S. Border Patrol agents seized nearly 122 pounds of cocaine west of here Sunday after two people traversed the New River with the drug load.

The seizure came about 7 p.m. Sunday after two Border Patrol agents saw two people illegally enter the United States by floating up the New River, according to Border Patrol spokesman Arturo Sandoval.

The two people concealed themselves in some bushes near a parking lot before coming out to put two tires in the trunk of a car parked in the lot located near Vons.
