Local wrestlers compete in Chula Vista

CHULA VISTA — The Imperial and Brawley junior wrestling team competed at the SDIKWA mid-season championships here Saturday.

In the rookie class Brawley's Michael Prado (32 pounds) and J.J. Morales (55) took first. Brawley's Anthony Nuñez (40) and Nick Torrez (45) took third. Imperial Jazz Suazo finished fourth while teammate Timothy Lovio was fifth. Brawley's Marcus Prado (36) was sixth.

In the bantam division Brawley's Oscar Lizarraga (55) took first and Justin Rowe (46) was fourth.

In the midget class Imperial's Uriel Navarro was first. Brawley's Anthony Liston (60) and Nathaniel Lizarraga (100) both placed second. Brawley's Raymond Liston (55) and Christopher Mendoza (75) placed fourth and teammate Nathan Rowe (80) was sixth.

In the novice division Brawley's Frank Corona (heavyweight) finished first. Imperial Cameron McNeer and Brawley's Chauncy Rowe (100) took seconds. Brawley's Joseph Salazar (65) and Josh Wise (140) finished third and Brawley's Cortland Bender (130) took sixth.

In the schoolboy class Imperial's Raymond Elizalde and Anthony Elizalde both took first. Brawley's Carlos Lizarraga (14) and Frankie Piñedo (100A) took second. Brawley's Corey Caffarella (100B) and Lorenzo Soto (90) and Imperial's Derrick Wilson finished third. Brawley's Cameron Bender (120) took fourth while teammate Ritchie Lopez (heavyweight) was fifth. Imperial James Smith took sixth.

In the cadet class Brawley's Alex Miranda (103.5) finished first.
