Second Farmers Market slated for El Centro

A Farmers Market, the second one in two weeks, will be staged in El Centro's downtown from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The event will feature fresh produce, food, entertainment, folk art and children's activities.

Sponsored by the Downtown El Centro Association and the El Centro Chamber of Commerce & Visitor's Bureau, the Farmers Market is meant to showcase downtown El Centro and bring people together from all over the Imperial Valley, according to organizers.

A Farmers Market was held two weeks ago and organizers said hundreds of Imperial Valley residents and visitors came to the downtown.

Organizers said they plan to continue staging two Farmers Market events each year.

Senior volunteers slate yard sale in Imperial

IMPERIAL — The Senior Volunteer Program will have a yard sale at 8 a.m. Saturday in the Moose Lodge on Highway 86 in Imperial.

Four arrested on drug charges in Holtville

HOLTVILLE — Four Holtville residents were arrested here Wednesday on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance.

Imperial County Narcotics Task Force agents searched 1409 East Alamo Road here and seized evidence consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Loy Mitchell, 43, Richard Hunt, 39, Michael Realmuto, 36, and Yvette Akin Evalee Hasham, 36, were arrested between 7 and 10 p.m. Wednesday, according to Sheriff's Office log reports.

The four were booked into the Imperial County jail, where they remained in custody at presstime today. Bail was set at $100,000 for each of the suspects.

‘Neighborhood Fair' set for Seeley park

SEELEY — The Seeley Health Partnership will host its "Neighborhood Fair" from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in Seeley Community Park.

There will be games, gifts, music and carne asada and pollo asado tacos. Blood pressure and blood sugar check-ups will be provided The public is invited.
