Youth sports: Elizalde wins in Poway

POWAY — Imperial junior wrestlers competed in a tournament here over the weekend.

In the schoolboy division, Imperial's Anthony Elizalde took first, Raymond Elizalde was second and Derrick Wilson was third.

In the midget class, Alejandro de la Rosa took sixth and Uriel Navarro was second.

Cameron McNeer finished third in the novice class and Quinten Likos was sixth in the bantam division.

Nothin' But Net league

The Nothin' But Net youth basketball league completed its second week of play.

In the boys division the Raptors beat Above Average 28-15, the Bruins downed UCLA 62-21, the Jazz stopped the Kings 40-25, the Hawks ripped the Perfect Event 37-16, the Dragons knocked off the Raptors 2 36-22 and the Lakers beat Duke 23-19.

In the girls division the Lady Hawks ripped the Hoop Stars 17-4, No Doubt slipped past the Stars 20-18, the Sparks edged the Bearcats 16-15 and the Lady Raptors downed the Tar Heels 20-11.



SEELEY — The winners of Saturday's Imperial Valley BMX Association races were:

Girls — Kiersten Brown (7), Saquia Davis (10) and Samantha Culp (11).

Cruiser — Cameron Lofgren (10), Joshua Angulo (14), Brian Cannon (26-30) and Joel Rebik (36-40).

Novice — Chase Klicka (5 and under), Nicholas Rodriguez (7), Chad Jackson (9), Tristan Roche (10), Adam Anderholt (12) and Dagan Burden (14).

Intermediate — Ryan Price (6), Tanner Holt (8), Michael Mauzy (9), Roberto Rodriguez (13) and Byron Studer (14).

Expert — Matthew Martin (6), Ian Adame (8), Cameron Lofgren (10), Shayne Godfrey (12), Brent Smail (13), Paul Meeks (15) and Donald Smail (28 and over).
