Vallejo leads 5K run in Brawley

BRAWLEY — Brawley Union High cross country team members put on a 5,000-meter race at Cattle Call Park here Saturday with proceeds going to local skin cancer research.

The race was divided into five individual male and female categories.

Albert Alvarado won the male under-15-year-old division in 28 minutes, 30 seconds and Natalia Cardenas won the female U-15 in 28:47.

Paul Vallejo recorded a time of 18:34 to win the male 15-20-year-old and Meg Allen won the female 15-20 in 24:06.

Noah Miranda (36:01) and Heidi Cappeler (37:07) won the 21-30 races and Jose Flores (23:08) and Dolores Sevilla (32:47) won the 31-40-year-old division.

Rounding out things in the 41-50-year-old section were Phillip Boise (38:39) and Rosalinda Cardenas (36:27).
