Within the last few weeks I reviewed a selection of the Imperial High School's teachers in action in their classrooms. There were no surprises. What was expected and much more were there in the minds and hearts of these exceptional people.
Yes, most definitely, difficult situations in varying types and degrees came up in the classrooms. Each teacher, as the case required, cared for and solved the problems in stride with just the right words at just the right moment. The words "compassionate," "understanding," "dedicated," "caring" and "concerned" best describe the personal attributes each teacher put into their class session. "Professional," "efficient" and "ethical" aptly defines each of these teachers' level of ability and moral character displayed in the days' observations.
Teachers Mr. Martinez, Ms. Slomski, Mr. Arceo, Ms. Cozzani, Mr. Wardrup and many more, to be sure, are what makes the system work and work so well. After all, a school, any school, is nothing more than its teachers.
