U.S. Border Patrol agents seized 247.3 pounds of marijuana east of Calexico, according to a press release.
At about 10 p.m. Saturday, agents working in the desert about 20 miles east of Calexico followed footprints heading from the border toward a brushy area near the junction of Interstate 8 and Highway 98.
Hidden in the brush, agents found five duffel bags containing 31 individually wrapped packages of marijuana. No arrests were made.
The marijuana was turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
