The rain system that has blanketed the Imperial Valley for the past two days has helped it catch up with annual rainfall averages, according to county Meteorologist Jim Christopherson.
Precipitation through this morning brought the total rainfall to 2.06 inches for the year. The average for this time of the year is 2.54 inches, Christopherson said.
El Centro received .58 inches of rain Tuesday in a storm that tapered into scattered showers this morning.
The system is expected to head toward the Colorado River by nightfall.
Sunny skies are expected Thursday with a high of 77 degrees.
