The 2001 California Mid-Winter Fair & Fiesta is in full swing so it is somewhat unusual I would be writing a letter at this time. I need, however, to express my gratitude and thanks to four companies that without their help the fair would have been in dire straits during the last week of preparation — Granite Construction, Val-Rock, Inc., Stoker Co. and Lee Havens and Sons.
With the rain that fell last week, the racetrack, parking lots and livestock areas were inundated with water and mud. These companies came with graders, sand and pumper trucks to clear the lakes that had been formed and to clear the track for the installation of the stage. Without them, John Kay and Steppenwolf, Mark Chesnutt and Freddy Fender would not have been able to perform.
I am overwhelmed by the support that we have and are receiving by the community. If it was not for you, and you know who you are, we would not be able to give the Imperial Valley the fair that they truly deserve.
