Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Carroll L. Reynolds, 86, of Holtville, who died Sunday in Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Holtville with the Rev. Allen Deinert officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Reynolds was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Durant, Okla. She came with her family to Holtville at age 13. She attended schools in Holtville and graduated from Central Union High School in El Centro.

She worked at Swanson's Department Store in Holtville while in high school and retired as Holtville's librarian after 38 years of service.

She was a member of Friends of the Library.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles and her coffee clatches at J&M Cafe, according to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Reynolds, in 1971.


Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Pfister of Brawley; son and daughter-in-law, John and Barbara Reynolds of El Centro; son, Patrick Reynolds of Fontana; grandchildren, Marianne Pfister of Holtville, Dan Pfister of Brawley, Tim Reynolds and Cori Singh, both of El Centro, Patrick and Kim Reynolds, both of Fontana, and Mark Reynolds of Rancho Cucamonga; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.


Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley for Dorothy Rose Box-Heinen, 76, of Redding, a former Brawley resident who died March 1 in Redding.

Pastor Jim Tucker of Valley Baptist Church of Brawley will officiate.

Mrs. Box-Heinen was born Aug. 22, 1924, in Oklahoma City. She was a resident of Brawley from 1950 to 1989, when she relocated to Redding.

She was a member of Bonnyview Baptist Church in Redding.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Floyd Box.

Survivors include her husband, Edward Heinen; daughters, Sandra Porter of Yuma, Shirley Watkins of Anderson, Mary Lou Ard of Cottonwood and Candie Sullivan of Redding; son, Leroy Box of Highland; brother, Walter "Pete" Box, Twin Falls, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial donations be sent to the American Cancer Society.


Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Rafael R. Parra, 75, of Holtville, who died Monday in El Centro Regional Medical Center. The Rev. Phillip Velasco of Apostolic Assembly Church of Pasadena will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mr. Parra was born on March 19, 1925, in Mexico. He lived in the Imperial Valley for more than 48 years and was a retired baker.

Survivors include his children, Elizabeth Lopez of Lake Elsinore, Ralph Parra Jr. of San Diego, Delia Lopez of Pasadena and Yolanda Parra of Duarte; and six grandchildren.
