Thank God for our local Fire Department.
I'm an elderly woman and have a neurological disease that affects my legs. I don't get around very well, but I give thanks to God that I do as well as I do.
But one day last week I was looking for a bar of soap under the sink when I noticed some shampoo had been knocked over and spilled on the floor. So I started cleaning up the mess. I was holding to the wash basin with one hand and cleaning with the other. I had worked about 20 minutes when my legs gave way and I went down. I tried for 30 minutes to get up and finally I was worn out and knew I needed help.
I dragged myself to the door hoping I could get my husband to hear me — he is very hard of hearing. But he heard me. I told him to call our daughter. She was here shortly and called the Fire Department and right away two young men were here. One of them lifted me up. My legs were pretty shaky, so he helped me to my bed. I don't know their names but I want them to know I really thank them and I'm OK. They were from the Brawley Fire Department.
