IID to stage meetings with farmers

The Imperial Irrigation District's water department has scheduled a series of meetings this week with farmers to discuss ways to improve service to the farming community.

The meetings will be in cities throughout the Imperial Valley and each meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon.

The first will be Monday in the Imperial County Farm Bureau Office, 1000 Broadway in El Centro.

On Tuesday the meeting will be in the Calipatria Chamber of Commerce, 150 N. Park Ave.; Wednesday in the Westmorland Lions Center, 200 W. 2nd St.; Thursday in the Holtville City Hall, 121 W. 5th St.; and Friday in the Imperial Valley Stockmen's Club, 275 S. Marjorie Ave in Brawley.

According to an agenda for the meetings, IID water department officials will discuss such issues as the work done on the East Highline Canal, customer service, policy and procedures, runs and orders along with general issues. There will be time allotted for public comment.

IID spokeswoman Sue Giller said of the meetings, "It gives us a chance to talk and find ways to work together to meet the needs of our customers."
