Boca to play in Champions Cup

The Boca Juniors soccer club of Calexico is ready to begin play in the California Soccer Association's Champions League Cup.

Boca Juniors plays in the Imperial Valley Soccer League and was crowned champion last season after defeating Napoles 2-0 in the league final.

The Calexico squad will participate in the Champions Cup against adult division teams from across the state that won their leagues. A total of 62 teams will compete.

Boca Juniors will begin play at 6 p.m. Saturday when they face the Palmeras Soccer Club of San Diego on the north field of Swarthout Park in El Centro.

Boca Juniors is playing in another IVSL season and is in first place.
