Holtville golfers win

HOLTVILLE — The Holtville High School golf team knocked off Calexico 429-486 in an 18-hole match at Barbara Worth Golf Resort here Tuesday.

J.B. Borchard led Holtville with a 76. Preston George carded an 83, Caleb Sanden an 84, James Hawk an 87 and Dustin Fusi fired a 99.

Phillip Cheng led the Bulldogs with an 83. Ricardo Ortega shot an 88, Edgar Ugarte a 95, Eric Ugarte a 106 and Enrique Cervantes a 114.

The Vikings (3-1) return to the links at 1 p.m. Thursday at Del Rio Country Club in Brawley against Calipatria.

Central 423, Southwest 427, Palo Verde 435

BLYTHE — The Central Union High School golf team won a three- way match here Monday.

The Spartans fired a 423, topping Southwest (427) and Palo Verde (435).

Central's Ivan Haro earned medalist honors, shooting a 76 over 18 holes. Mario Luna carded an 83 for the Spartans. He was followed by Beau Carson (86), Fernie Lynn (85) and Jacob Beard (93).


Matt Mouser led Southwest with an 80. Ty Yturralde and Justin Eyer both fired 82s for Southwest. Trevor Tagg shot a 91 and Derrek Dessert had a 92 for the Eagles.

Palm Desert 196, Brawley 213

PALM DESERT — The Brawley Union High School golf team lost its third match of the year, falling 196-213 to Palm Desert here Tuesday.

Leading Brawley was Michael Quick with a 40, followed by Adam Schmitt with a 41. Jorden Tucker added a 43 with Milas Russell carding a 44. Brian Emmanuelli rounded out the Wildcat scoring with a 45.

Brawley (4-3 overall) plays at Chula Vista at 12:30 today.
