Voice: Hey feds, how about a bit of proper notice?

March 22, 2001

How in the world can we be expected to show up for a meeting when we don't know about the meeting? In a recent edition of the Press, you advised us of a meeting to be held at 8:30 the next morning regarding the closure of the dunes. My guess is that the meeting was not well-attended … not for lack of enthusiasm or concern, but for lack of notification.

I, for one, would have gone but had no time to arrange for a baby-sitter for my three preschool age kids. How can we be expected to let BLM and the other entities within the federal government know how we feel and show our support when we aren't given sufficient notice to do so? …. seems like a case of discrimination to me.

I'll bet you a crisp 10-spot that the environmentalists were given notice of the meeting long ago. But of course, as they say, "the squeaky wheel …"

Thanks for listening …
