Voice: Keep an eye on what your kids are watching and hearing

March 28, 2001

It is my opinion that we have difficulty understanding the conflict between ideal and actual behavior.

Fantasyland is just that, but we are in the real world and must be responsible for our actions. In the 1960s the U.S. Supreme Court, with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union, tossed the Ten Commandments from our public schools. It is my conviction that we have since been on a precipitous moral decline summarized by our youth idolizing rappers who advocate murder, drugs and rape. We then have young people walking on campus and savagely shooting innocent victims.

In retrospect all these conflicts between individuals could have been lessened if parents and teachers were permitted to discipline and encourage spiritual, family and self-respect values.

Folks, don't let the sappy liberals lead you astray. Maintain your convictions and provide your children with an opportunity to survive by spending time with them, listening to them and monitoring what they're watching on TV and listening to on CD.
