SAVANNAH, Ga. n Armstrong Atlantic State University senior second baseman Tesh Wiewel was named the Peach Belt Conference's Player of the Week on Wednesday by conference officials.
Wiewel, a former Central Union High School standout, hit .438 for the week (7-for-16) with two doubles, a triple and seven RBI as the No. 15-ranked NAIA Pirates went 6-0, running their winning streak to 12 games.
Wiewel's bases-loaded double in the second inning gave the Pirates a 2-1 win over No. 10 Alabama-Huntsville in the Owl Invitational and she had a two-RBI triple in the Pirates' 3-1 win over No. 14-ranked St. Mary's (Texas) in the tournament.
The 2000 All-PBC and All-South Atlantic Region player was errorless at second base and executed four sacrifices.
The honor is the first for Wiewel and the first for an AASU softball player this season.
