Southwest High School ruined Vincent Memorial's trip to El Centro by knocking off the Scots 16-2 in a boys tennis match here Wednesday.
Southwest played well overall but had doubles play to thank for the victory as it swept doubles sets 6-0.
"Our doubles teams ripped it today," said Southwest coach Genrao Pineiro. "They came out here with a mission and played together for a perfect 54-0 score against their opponents."
Ramon Osa came off the court with a grin after completing his sweep with his partner, Bobby Romero.
"The win felt really good," Osa said. "Everything was working today and we got a few aces."
He said he was pleased with his team's performance.
"We're really starting to gel," Osa said. "We just need to work on keeping everything working and we need to stay focused on our opponents."
Romero said it felt good to dominate the Scots.
The Eagles' No. 2 team of Romero and Osa joined No. 1 team Randy Lyon and Greg Lyon and No. 3 team Joseph Kaye and Kareem Salem in the sweep of Vincent's pairs, No. 1 Felipe Bustamonte/Alejandro Roldar and No. 2 David Ptacnik/Fabian Cuevaz. The Scots did not have a third doubles duo.
