A man wanted on a federal warrant since September 1999 was turned over to U.S. officials this morning after being arrested in Mexico.
Terry Wayne Sakamoto, 30, was turned over at the Calexico Port of Entry at 1:50 a.m. Thursday after Mexican police arrested him at the FBI's request, said Bob Sellers, supervisory resident agent for the FBI's El Centro office.
Sakamoto was wanted on a federal warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, Sellers said.
Sakamoto is wanted out of the San Jose area on a parole violation for unlawful sex with a minor, assault and bank robbery, Sellers said.
Sakamoto was booked into the Imperial County jail while awaiting transport to the San Jose area, Sellers said.
