Golf: Scots shoot past Imperial

SEELEY — The Vincent Memorial High golf team stayed perfect in Desert Mountain League play as it downed Imperial 197-230 at the Lakeview Golf Course here Thursday.

Leading Vincent was Jorge Vasquez with a 36 on the par-33 course, followed by Jose Lopez and Dominic Jacobelli both with 37s. Rudy Cabañas shot a 43 and Federico Diaz carded a 44 for the Scots.

Imperial's Kjarri Kjartansson led all scorers with a 33. Imperial's Shawn Gutierrez turned in a 46 followed by Isaiah Gonzalez's 47. Lance Havins shot a 49 and Ben Talancon rounded out the Tigers' scoring with a 55.

Both teams will play on Tuesday with Vincent (4-0 DML) traveling to Vista to take on Guajome Park at 1 p.m. and Imperial playing Warner at the Del Rio Country Club in Brawley at 3 p.m.


Holtville vs. Borrego Springs and Noli Indian School

HOLTVILLE — The Holtville High School golf team shot a school record in a tri-match win over Borrego Springs and Noli Indian School of Temecula.

Holtville finished with a 409, followed by Borrego Springs with a 517 and Noli with a 575.

Leading the Vikings was Preston George with a 76. Caleb Sandin turned in a 79, followed by J.B. Borchard's 80 and Steven Hawk's 81. Jonathan Hawk rounded out things with a 93.

Holtville will play at Julian at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
