Central golfers take first at IVL meet

BRAWLEY — Central Union High posted a 10-stroke win at the Imperial Valley League's second golf meet of the season Monday.

The event was at the Del Rio Country Club here, and Central won with a 394 on the par-350 course.

In second place was Brawley Union High with a 404, followed by Southwest with a 421. Palo Verde took fourth with 429 and Calexico rounded out the scoring with a 499.

Leading Central was Mario Luna, who carded a 75, followed by Beau Carson's 76. Ivan Haro shot an 80 for the Spartans with Jake Beard turning in an 81 and Adam Moler an 82.

Brawley's Milas Russell led all golfers with a 74. Michael Quick shot an 81 with Brian Emmanuelli carding an 82 and Garrett Fargo an 83 for the Wildcats. Adam Schmitt rounded out Brawley's scoring with an 84.


Matt Mouser led Southwest with a 76, with Ty Yturralde turning in an 84. Trevor Tagg shot an 85, followed by Justin Eyer's 86 for Southwest. Cameron Bucher shot a 90 for the Eagles.

Low scorer for Calexico was Phillip Chavez with an 88.

Brawley and Southwest are tied for first in the IVL with eight points. Central is in second place with seven points.

All five squads meet again at 1 p.m. Monday at the Barbara Worth Golf Resort near Holtville.
