The El Centro City Council will conduct a public hearing to consider submitting a $500,000 grant application to the state for single unit, owner-occupied housing rehabilitation.
The City Council meets in open session at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1275 Main St. The public hearing is set for 7.
If approved, the funds would be obtained through the Community Development Block Grant program. The money would be used to rehabilitate at least 12 owner-occupied single-family homes.
To receive the funds, the city must commit to certain in-kind contributions totaling $12,500.
A second public hearing will be held to consider the sale of certain land in the city's Centerpoint Business Park for the purpose of developing a light industrial manufacturing plant of about 6,000 square feet. The development would host small shop and office rental spaces, according to the staff report. The space is valued at $65,000.
