SEELEY — Two men were injured Tuesday when the truck in which they were traveling overturned on Interstate 8 near here.
Luis Gutierrez, 20, of Los Angeles was driving west on I-8 west of Derrick Road around 7:10 a.m. when he apparently allowed the truck to travel off the north shoulder of the freeway into the dirt, a press release from the California Highway Patrol states.
In an attempt to bring the truck back onto the roadway, Gutierrez overcorrected, causing the truck to roll over, the Highway Patrol states.
Gutierrez sustained minor injuries in the accident while his passenger, 19-year-old Jeromy Stewart of Yuma, sustained major injuries.
Both men were transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center. No information was available on their conditions this morning.
The accident was still under investigation this morning by the Highway Patrol.
