50 years ago — Reaction to President Harry Truman's firing of Gen. MacArthur was explosive in the Imperial Valley today. Most people felt that Truman's action was his greatest political blunder, a Post-Press survey revealed.

40 years ago — A deposit of $2,500 to be paid to the Southern California Gas Co. for installation of service lines to the new Imperial Valley College campus was approved by the Board of Trustees yesterday.

30 years ago — The Valley was crammed with visitors over Easter and according to all concerned lawmen, everything was peaceful with the exception of some minor mishaps. All, however, was not peaceful on the Arizona side of the Colorado River where hundreds of youths were arrested on drug and drinking charges at Parker.

20 years ago — Scoring seven runs in the first three innings Friday sent the Calexico Bulldogs to their fourth straight Desert Valleys League triumph, 9-2. This time the victims were the Coachella Arabs.
