Bonita Vista bombs Brawley 10-0

CHULA VISTA — The Brawley Union High baseball team got ripped in the second day of the San Diego Lions tournament, losing 10-0 to Bonita Vista here Tuesday.

Brandon Burnett, Matt Smith and Dominic Aguirre had Brawley's three hits.

The Wildcats return to tournament action today.

Palm Desert 13, Holtville 4

PALM DESERT — The Holtville High baseball team lost 13-4 to Palm Desert at the Coachella Valley tournament here Tuesday.

Alex Navarro finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and Billy Huyler went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Holtville.

The Vikings returned to action this morning.

Oceanside 6, Southwest 3

SAN DIEGO — The Southwest High School baseball team committed five errors in a 6-3 loss to Oceanside in the Lions Tournament here Tuesday.


George Rapp took the loss for Southwest. He pitched five innings, allowing six runs (two earned) and striking out five.

Rapp led the Southwest offense with two hits, including a home run. Eric Flores and Frank Richards both had two hits for the Eagles.

Southwest returns to tournament action at 3 today against Sweetwater High.

Escondido 14, Imperial 8

SAN DIEGO —The Imperial High School baseball team fell 14-8 to Escondido in the Lions Tournament here Tuesday.

Bryan Seeger took the loss for the Tigers. He pitched four and 1/3 innings, allowing 11 runs and striking out seven.

Seeger had two hits and four RBIs to lead the Imperial offense. Brett Cochran added a hit and scored three runs for the Tigers.

Imperial returns to tournament action at 10:30 today against Clark High of Las Vegas.

Central 11, Twentynine Palms 2

COACHELLA — The Central Union High School baseball team hammered Twentynine Palms 11-2 in the Coachella tournament here Tuesday.

Humberto Cardenas picked up the win. He pitched the complete game, striking out 15.

Jose Ibarra hit a two-run homer to lead the Central offense. Ruben Guzman added two hits and two RBIs.

In earlier action Tuesday the Spartans knocked off Victor Valley 5-2.

Sergio Garcia picked up the complete game win for Central.

Enrique Lechuga led the Central offense with two hits and two RBIs.

The Spartans return to action today when they play for the tournament's consolation championship.
