50 years ago — Imperial Valley youngsters under age 13 can enter their pets in the Los Vigilantes-Merchants pet parade in El Centro next week. Harry Hamerslough, parade chairman, said entry blanks may be obtained at the El Centro Chamber of Commerce office.

40 years ago — Applications are being accepted by the Calexico Fire Department for the $360-a-month position of fireman. Al Brooks, fire chief, said applications are available in his office and will be required to be turned in by April 25.

30 years ago — Cesar Chavez and his United Farm Workers can boycott Bud Antle lettuce as long as they remain peaceful and truthful, according to company spokesmen.
