Brawley police contract dispute over?

April 16, 2001|By KELLY GRANT, Staff Writer

The El Centro Police Department is asking the public's help in gathering information about gunshots fired on the east side of El Centro early Sunday.

Shortly before 2:30 a.m. Sunday, El Centro police received multiple reports of eight to 10 gunshots fired in the area of the 200 block of Royal Court, Sgt. Mike Crankshaw said.

One caller found two or three gunshot holes in an exterior wall of his house at 227 Royal Court, Crankshaw said.

Spent rounds were found at the scene and taken as evidence by police, according to police logs.

The shots came from a small-caliber weapon and hit the home from a westward direction, Crankshaw said.

The incident was still under investigation today and police have no suspect information or idea of a motive at this time.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call El Centro Police at 337-4525.

Staff Writer Kelly Grant may be reached at 337-3441.
