Youth Sports/recreation roundup: Dawg House wins Mata tournament

CALIPATRIA — The Dawg House knocked off the Alumni to capture the championship of the seventh annual Nate Mata Memorial 4-on-4 men's basketball tournament here last weekend.

The Dawg House was led by Ernie Garcia, George Flores and John Cabanilla.

Marcus Tapia was the standout for Alumni.

Perfect 10, led by Rahsahn Overton and James Canteen, took third place.

The ‘B' division champion was Ministry, led by Eric Somers, Noel Medina and Robert Bogar.

The ‘C' division champion was Solo 2 led by Ruben Ramos and Jesus Espinosa.


SEELEY — The winners of Saturday's Imperial Valley BMX Association races here were:

Girls — Kiersten Brown (9), Katherine West (10) and Samantha Culp (12).

Cruiser — Cameron Lofgren (11), Brian Cannon (26-30) and David Garcia (36-40).


Novice — Chase Klicka (5 and under), Brent Austin Bangert (9) and Daniel Sterling (11).

Intermediate — Johnathan Butler (5 and under), Able Minjarez (9), Tristan Roche (10), Casey Derrick (12), Brent Smail (14) and Clarence Hightower (19-27).

Expert — Brandon Whitehead (6), Chad Kerley (7), Cesar Silva (9), Cameron Lofgren (10), Shayne Godfrey (12) and Paul Meeks (15).
