John Roque Katsigeanis

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday in Davis Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. in Las Vegas for John Roque Katsigeanis, 72, of Las Vegas, who died of heart failure Tuesday in his home. Rosary will be said at 4:15 p.m.

Mr. Katsigeanis was born in Calexico. He was raised and attended schools in Brawley before moving to O'Fallon, Ill., Blythe, Torrance and Las Vegas.

He had a long government career, beginning in 1947 with the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

After his discharge from the service in 1956 he continued as an information technologist with the Federal Aviation Administration as an accident investigator and a technician setting up air safety equipment all over the western U.S. He finished his career at McCarran Field in Las Vegas.

After retiring he turned to writing and photography and was published frequently in police journals, among other magazines.

Survivors include daughters, Deborah Piddisi, Sandy Torres and Vicki Katsigeanis; son John Walter Katsigeanis; granddaughters, Stephanie Torres and Candice Piddisi, all of Las Vegas; sisters, Amalia Katsigeanis of Calexico and Olga Houlgate of Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene.
