Four injured this morning in collision near Imperial

Two vehicles collided on Highway 86 north of Imperial this morning, injuring four people, according to a California Highway Patrol press release.

The accident occurred at 3:52 a.m. at the intersection of 86 and Keystone Road.

According to the press release, Eva Becker, 52, of Alpine was driving her car east on Keystone when she turned onto the highway and struck a pickup driven by Ruben Sigala, 43, of Calexico.

Sigala suffered minor injuries and was taken to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.

Becker suffered moderate injuries. She had two passengers in her car, Elisa Ulrichs, 25, of Brawley and Calvin Matthews, 53, of San Diego, both of whom suffered moderate injuries. All three were taken to Pioneers.

There were no further details on their conditions this morning.

The Highway Patrol release states Matthews was the only one who may not have been wearing a seat belt.

The accident remained under investigation this morning.
