Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday in Johnson Mortuary chapel in Yuma for Maria De Jesus V. Palma, 81, of Imperial, who died Friday in Palmview Rehabilitation and Care Center in Yuma. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Church in Yuma.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Palma was born Nov. 8, 1919, in Sanchez Roman, Zacatecas, Mexico.

Survivors include her sons, Manuel and Juan V. Palma, both of Lemoore, and Jose V. Palma of Salinas; daughters, Luz Viramontes of Imperial, Nellie Tiscareno of Tranquillity, Adelaida "Dela" Apostol of Yuma, Jesus "Jessie" Palma of Hanford, Esther and Enedina Perez, both of Fresno, and Elvira Zinn of El Centro; sister, Mercedes Miramontes of Mexico; 38 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Calipatria for Ernestina A. Acosta, 91, of Calipatria, who died Thursday in El Centro Regional Medical Center. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's with the Rev. Amador Lopez officiating.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mrs. Acosta was born March 31, 1910, in Tempe, Ariz. She came to the Imperial Valley as a teen-ager, settling in rural Calipatria.

Mrs. Acosta was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She did a lot of sewing for many people and enjoyed crocheting, according to family.

Survivors include her daughters, Lupe and Delia Acosta, Nellie Badajos and Frances Martinez, all of Calipatria; son, Gilbert Acosta of El Centro; granddaughters, Cynthia Betancourt of Holtville, Sandra Roberts of Tempe and Erica Acosta of El Centro; grandsons, Henry and Michael Martinez, both of Calipatria, Arturo Acosta of El Centro and Anthony Badajos of San Diego; and great-grandchildren, Amanda and Daniel Betancourt, both of Holtville, and Cortez Roberts of Tempe.


Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley for Herminio Ruiz, 79, of Brawley, who died Friday in his home.

The Rev. Jorge Moreno of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Brawley will officiate.

Mr. Ruiz was born April 5, 1922, in Mexico. He worked in agriculture for 60 years and was the father of eight children.

He was preceded in death by his son Herminio Ruiz Jr. in 1995.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Ruiz of Brawley; daughters, Stella M. Perez of Brawley, Irma Maldonado of Acampo, Mary Jane Ruiz, Angela Tamez and Sylvia Gutierrez, all of Stockton, and Josephine Ruiz of Tracy; and son, Jose Ruben Ruiz of Stockton.
