CALEXICO — Authorities seized nearly 120 pounds of cocaine in a drug bust coordinated between state and county drug agents and the Calexico Police Department and U.S. Customs Service.
Agents from the Imperial County Narcotic Task Force and the state Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement border interdiction team tipped off Calexico police to a vehicle driven by Jose Hector Heredia, 24, of Mexicali.
With the assistance of a U.S. Customs dog, Heredia's vehicle was searched.
Inside a secret compartment in the vehicle was about 120 pounds of cocaine.
Heredia was arrested for suspicion of possession of cocaine with intent to sell and was booked into Imperial County jail. Bail was set at $1 million.
