DESERT SHORES — A tractor-trailer rig crashed into a guard rail this morning on Highway 86 south of this Salton Sea-area community.
The accident occurred at 3:33 a.m., according to a press release from the California Highway Patrol.
The driver of the rig, Chris Cordova, 30, of San Bernardino, sustained moderate injuries in the accident and was transported to Pioneers Memorial Hospital in Brawley.
For unknown reasons, the Highway Patrol stated, Cordova allowed his rig to drift off the roadway and hit the guard rail.
According to the Highway Patrol, crews from the California Department of Transportation responded to the accident.
There were few other details available on the accident this morning, including Cordova's condition.
