Police search El Centro motel for possible kidnap victim

May 03, 2001

El Centro police were investigating a possible kidnapping this morning at the E-Z 8 Motel on Wake Avenue after a motel employee witnessed a man with his hands bound behind his back being forced from a car and into one of the motel's rooms by another man, according to police officials.

El Centro police Lt. Paul Longoria said the employee called police around 8:51 a.m. to report the incident.

According to the witness, Longoria said, the two men exited a late model sedan parked in front of the motel and entered one of the rooms.

Upon arrival, police, armed with shotguns, executed a search of all of the motel's rooms, but by presstime neither a suspect nor a possible kidnapping victim had been located.

Still, the car the men allegedly exited before entering a room remained at the motel late this morning.

Longoria said this morning no one had yet come to claim the vehicle.
