50 years ago — Willie Zwillinger, Imperial Valley produce broker, rounded up shippers and donated a total of 350 crates of carrots to the HiPass Health Camp for Valley youngsters.

40 years ago — The Imperial County Fish and Game Commission passed a resolution urging the county to operate the Calipatria Pheasant Farm.

30 years — On any average month in Imperial County, there are 165 children in foster homes. Imperial County is fourth in the state in the ratio of dependent and neglected children per capita.

20 years — The warm weather is upon us … but no sooner than it was last year. Sunday, for the first time in 1981, the official temperature in the Imperial Valley rose above the 100-degree mark. The temperature hit 103 degrees.
