Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in Calexico for William R. Moreno, 82, of El Centro, who died Wednesday in Palm View Rehabilitation Center in Yuma. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Burial will be private in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mr. Moreno was born July 11, 1918, in Calexico and resided there most of his life. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army for three years.

After the war, Mr. Moreno returned to Calexico and worked for Sunland and Arden dairies for 35 years. He married Anita Salazar in Calexico in 1946. The Morenos made their home in Calexico until 1991, when they relocated to El Centro.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Luis, Frank and Gilberto Moreno.

Survivors include his wife, Anita Moreno of El Centro; and numerous nieces and nephews.




Memorial services will be at 7:30 tonight in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe, Ariz., for Patricia "Patsy" Ramirez Doyle, 42, of Tempe, who died of an aneurysm Sunday in Las Vegas.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tempe.

Her ashes will be scattered at a later date.

Mrs. Doyle was born Aug. 20, 1958, in Indio. She was a longtime Calexico resident and graduated from Calexico High School in 1976. She resided in Alamogordo, N.M., before relocating to Tempe. She was employed at Empire Machinery in Mesa, Ariz.

In her late teens, Mrs. Doyle was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis and despite living with the daily pain of her condition, she managed to comfort all who needed her, according to family. She devoted many hours to charity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Enriqueta and Ramon; brothers, Roger and Alex; and second husband, Michael Cummings.

Survivors include her children, Kristina and Peter Gerardo; husband, Brendan Doyle; ex-husband, Pete Gerardo; brothers, Randy and Raymond; sisters, Myrna and Lena; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and colleagues.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the Arthritis Foundation.


Services are pending for Elizabeth H. Hastings, 66, of Imperial, who died Monday in her home.

Mrs. Hastings was born Dec. 21, 1934, in Corsicana, Texas. She came to the Imperial Valley in 1955 and married Carl Hastings in 1963.

Mrs. Hastings enjoyed collecting dolls and movies. She also enjoyed being a housewife, according to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hastings, in June.

Survivors include her son, David Carr of Imperial; granddaughter, Tanya Pascua of Imperial; grandson, D.J. Hastings of Imperial; great-grandson, Steven Pascua of Imperial; daughter-in-law, Margot Hastings of Germany; and stepson, Jim Hastings of El Centro.
