Earl J. Netzley

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Earl J. Netzley, 86, of Brawley, who died Wednesday in Valley Convalescent Hospital in El Centro.

Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley. The Rev. David Conrad of First United Methodist Church of Brawley will officiate.

Mr. Netzley was born June 3, 1914, in Azusa and was raised there. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Josephine Brooks in Denison, Texas, on Dec. 10, 1942.

After the war, Mr. Netzley moved to the Imperial Valley in 1947. He worked as a furniture department manager for Imperial Stores for 32 years. He retired in 1979.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brawley for more than 50 years. He was lifetime member of the American Legion and the Optimist and Kiwanis clubs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Netzley, on April 14, 1997.

Survivors include his daughter, Janice A. Netzley of El Centro; daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jim Burgoin of El Centro; and brothers, Willard Netzley of Rowland Heights, Richard Netzley of Indio and Wally Netzley of Pismo Beach.

The family suggests memorials to the Imperial County Alzheimer's Association, 584 W. Main St., El Centro, CA 92243.
