Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Sylvia Molina, 53, of El Centro, who died of cancer Wednesday in her home.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in First Assembly of God in El Centro. Pastor Cecil Barham will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mrs. Molina was born Dec. 31, 1947, in El Centro. She was raised and attended schools in Calexico. She graduated from Calexico High School in 1966 and worked as a receptionist for 10 years.

Mrs. Molina was an active member of the First Assembly of God of El Centro.

She was preceded in death by her brother Richard Cruz in March 2000.

Survivors include her husband, Manuel Molina of El Centro; mother, Jennie Cruz of Calexico; daughters and sons-in-law, Rosalinda and Luis Cruz, Marissa and Barry Bennett and Sylvia and Rafael Acevedo, all of El Centro; sons and daughters-in-law, Manuel Jr. and Alice Molina of Blythe and Fernando and Carmen Molina of El Centro; grandchildren, Jennifer and Daniel Morales, Bianca, Amanda and Luis Cruz III, Giovanni Acevedo and Faith Bennett, all of El Centro; brothers, James, Robert, Henry, Charles and Rudy Cruz; sisters, Isabel Campos, Yolanda Calderon and Charlene Cruz; and numerous nieces and nephews.



Memorial services will be at 8 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Holtville for Julia C. Ramirez, 75, of Santee, who died May 10. The Rev. Cecilio Moriaga will officiate.

Mrs. Ramirez was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Jerome, Ariz. She married Albert "Primo" Ramirez in Yuma in 1947.

Survivors include her husband, Albert "Primo" Ramirez of Santee; daughters, Norma R. Vasquez of Imperial, Mary H. Chambers of Elk City, Okla., Hilda R. Mazon of Holtville and Rosa R. Mazon of Santee; son, Raymond Ramirez of Santee; brother, Jose Camacho of El Centro; sisters, Carmen Avila and Olga Camacho, both of Orange; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 8880 Rio San Diego Drive, San Diego, CA 92108.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Cecilia Zamora, 69, of Brawley, who died Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Brawley with the Rev. Roque Vano officiating.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Zamora was born May 9, 1931, in Caborca, Sonora, Mexico, and was raised there.

She married Pedro Zamora in the state of Jalisco, Mexico, on May 7, 1950. The Zamoras came to the Mexicali Valley shortly thereafter and moved to Brawley in 1961. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Zamora was a longtime member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Zamora, on June 13, 1998.

Survivors include her sons, Martin Zamora of Brawley and Fernando Zamora of Laramie, Wyo.; daughters, Griselda Garibay and Gabriela Enriquez, both of Anaheim; nine grandchildren, three sisters and three brothers.
