BRAWLEY — U.S. Border Patrol investigators uncovered two "drop houses" here and found 38 undocumented immigrants hiding in the two locations.

Acting on information received by the agency, Border Patrol agents responded Tuesday to 641 Stanley Place to investigate the residence as a possible "stash house."

Agents took into custody 16 immigrants and seized two vehicles allegedly used to smuggle the immigrants.

One day later, agents responded to 276 B St. They took into custody 22 illegal immigrants and seized one vehicle.

Between the two residences, agents took into custody 36 males and two females.

According to a press release from the Border Patrol, each of the people was to be transported to Los Angeles for $1,200.

All the undocumented immigrants were processed and allowed a voluntary return to Mexico. There was no information on whether any of those taken into custody was thought to be a smuggler.

The Border Patrol said the two incidents are an example of the value citizens have in reporting possible criminal activity.

Those with information on such activities can contact the Border Patrol at (800) 901-2003.
