E.C. Public Library to upgrade catalog software June 4-5

May 18, 2001

The El Centro Public Library will modernize and upgrade its public access catalog hardware and software June 4 and 5.

The library will be open its regulars hours of 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. those days but will provide limited service for circulation of library materials.

Once the installation process is complete, the library will be closed to the public from June 6-8 so the library staff can be trained on the new software programs.

During the installation process the library will temporarily lose access to its online public access catalog and its circulation terminals, which are used to charge out items to customers, to issue new library cards and to assess or collect library fines.

The library will return to regular service June 9.

"We expect this long-awaited upgrade of the library's hardware and software to help improve our delivery of services to residents in El Centro," said City Librarian Victor Zazueta.

For more information about services and hours call the library at 337-4565.
