The Imperial Valley Association of Governments regional council is scheduled to act on the 2001-02 transit financing plan and the allocation of funds.

The council meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the county supervisors' chambers, 940 W. Main St., El Centro.

A total of $4 million is available for local transportation. The proposed breakdown: Brawley, $651,911; Calexico, $810,233; Calipatria, $102,268; El Centro, $1.14 million; Holtville, $165,212; Imperial, $242,417; Westmorland, $53,195; and the county $873,929.

The council is set to discuss how to replace SunLine Transit Agency, as the county has reportedly received a letter from SunLine terminating the contract effective Aug. 1, 2001, according to a staff report. County Director of Public Works Tim Jones could not be reached for comment on the potential loss.

The staff report states the county will be reviewing available options for the short term to continue services without interruption, and long-term options.
